Drenching your vocal in auto-tune is as polarizing as it gets for most music fans. It's been around since Cher first started using it in the '80s, and, of course, became more recently popularized with Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak and T-Pain. Not everyone can pull it off, and, most of the time, it masks appeal more than it adds to it at all.
