Jessica Bartlett (Island Fox) is back, and this time she's brought one of our favourite new producers, Mazde, with her, as the two individual talents have teamed up to create "Carbon Flux", the newest track from Island Fox since we first came across her music eight months ago with "Things I've Seen". According to Island Fox, the collaboration came to fruition because she heard Mazde through Hillydilly, so I guess if there ever was a reason to be happy of our efforts, this is one of them. The collaboration itself sounds good on paper, just having experienced the sonic histories of the artists themselves, but the effort is one that surpasses all expectations, as Jessica's vocals spread atop Mazde's elastic production like honey over the impassioned sounds and melodies. These two need to make more than just one song together, because "Carbon Flux" is the kind that inspires hope for a full-length album. And while our hopes for that may be thin at the moment, "Carbon Flux" can easily stand on its own for now.
