Usually when you come across an act that's fresh out of the gate, you're happy with hearing one good song from the artist, but when all four songs from a debut few have heard of hit, we're impressed. Such is the case with the debut EP, I Am Not Hugo, from the Swiss singer/producer, Hugo, who's about to amass quite the buzz for himself with this flawless collection of music. For a diamond in the rough, Hugo carries vocals that are remarkably crisp, clean, and slightly malleable in the way they move up and down in tonality. With his flexible range, Hugo amasses chameleon-like production that passes through a multitude of variations and tempo changes. The EP is folk, electronic, and acoustic all rolled into one, and though the genres may not happen in concert throughout, spread over the four tracks that appear, you'll hear each, and with them, one of the biggest musical surprises of the year thus far.
