"Never judge a book by its cover" is a saying that goes for a lot of things, and that includes music as well. Hughes, an artist from Brooklyn who's been releasing music for over a year now, gives the impression that he makes shoegaze and/or indie-rock, but listen to "Gilda", the best track he's released thus far, and you'll be taken quite by surprise. It's got that "it" rap and R&B sound that's popular right now, and, although it's not going to have you proclaiming him your new favorite artist, there's really an enjoyable vibe here that we think is definitely worth checking out.
