This past year has been a great one for experimental production work, and as trends progress, the sounds have become more and more sophisticated as one producer after another tries to outdo the next with their own particular brand of sonic creativity. And while this cycle can be a bit cutthroat for the musicians that can't keep up, it's the music writers and avid listeners who really reap the benefits. The competition of sorts has produced some outstanding work, and now you you can add yet another track to the ever-increasing list of must-listens. "I Never Will" by Hounded is a very laid-back piece, but the hard-edged beat and abrupt drops in synth volume here and there add a presence to the sound, elevating the composition to a level that will be tough to match by his contemporaries. There's not a lot of monumental high notes in this one, so it definitely had the potential to be a bit of a snooze fest, but fear not, because with the direction Hounded took, you'll be hooked from the very first note. To round out the package, Hounded has incorporated Sophia Aroutsidis' beautiful voice, and, like any good pair of vocals do, hers make the effort that much more tempting to replay again and again and again once the track concludes.
