Hold your Horses! is not just another band; rather, they're a "Franco-American seven-headed, fourteen-handed, polyphonic monster from Paris. Meshing, with the know-how of proverbial idiot savants, rock and pop, wood and brass, the voices of boys with those of girls with those of foreign calls", and if that doesn't give you a clear sense of their sound, you're not alone. The seven-piece isn't a new one, relatively speaking; they've releases that span back to 2008, but we're just coming across them now, and we think their title track to Your Fall is a pretty impressive indie-pop introduction. "Your Fall" begins gracefully with electric keys, sweetly supplementary bass guitar, and toned-down electric guitar, all before the lead vocalist's soft and sure voice itself rises in the effort. A very reserved-sounding, small-scale indie-pop sound follows, minimalist as can be, but infectious enough to be satisfying. The instrumentations do not stand out on their own, and, though pretty, neither does the singer's. It's the coming together both that really make "Your Fall" something to engage in, and engaged we are. It's perhaps no surprise that the track saw remixing treatment, given its open nature, so in addition to the title track, we've decided to include Vendège's more involved version below. The two efforts each appear on Your Fall, and you're free to scoop them, and the additional, remaining track on the EP for a small price on Bandcamp.
