Australia never ceases to impress with their homegrown electronic. Seemingly every effort that arises out of the land is something that sticks, and though they can be a bit generous with their high-octane energies at times, more often than not, we can't help but absorb ourselves into their bright, bombastic sounds. Of course, bodies are required to help facilitate these smatterings of songs, and that's where ever-successful labels like Future Classic come in. The frequently pioneering sonic family seems to have a new member, too, in the form of HD-frequenter, Basenji, and his presence alongside the likes of Flume, Wave Racer, and Thrupence all but assures elevated success for the Sydney resident. As good as that all sounds on paper, though, what we're really interested in right now is the man's latest effort, "Heirloom", which effortlessly establishes his status as a member within the elite circle of producers. With tracks such as "Dawn" and "Speak With A Dofflin", we were introduced to the producer's quirky but highly engaging production style, and with "Heirloom", we see the trend continue. Playful and buoyant, it's a delight from start to finish, the track is, and harp flicks and horn stabs wash wonderfully over crisp drums, and, at one point, a deliciously dark and slithery bassline. It sounds ambitious and exciting, and that's because it certainly is; the track serves as a great example of the high-quality, extremely inventive music we've come to expect from the guy (and Future Classic, by extension), and when producers like him regularly release tracks as excellent and creative as "Heirloom" is, you know the future of electronic is in good hands. While indulging in the exceptionally artistic effort below, be sure to check out Basenji's touring dates and locations throughout Australia in two months' time (if, of course, you're going to be in that part of the world in that period of time.)
