Jerry Gorman (Hatch) has been doing a lot of scattered, fun-sounding interpretive works (remixes, covers) in his time as an artist (we implore you to check out his cover of Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" [it's superb]), but, like any artist worth their salt, the time for official, more maturely presented releases looms (always, really). Such endorsed or sanctioned works serve as status-raising sustenance for those who partake in them, and really, they're quite necessary for recognizability purposes, as one attempts to enter the consciousness of those beyond an already-built niche audience (and who isn't trying to do that?). Certainly, the Sydney producer is and has been rising through the ranks of those you ought to know and, on top of his aforementioned cover (which, again, we strongly urge upon you) propelling him to raved territories, he's just seen his first official work cast out into the public eye: the suitably titled "New Direction". Within, we find simultaneously dance-y and downtempo vibes until later in the track when a more trap-like atmosphere is had—and well-integrated samplings, chords, and nuances throughout keep the effort remarkably fresh-sounding. Endorsed by EDM, it seems that Hatch has indeed found his groove into more mainstream territories, and this bodes exceptionally well for the artist as he continues to gain more steam with his exciting, effervescent productions. Certainly, he's a sound you're going to want to know if electronic is your type, but for anyone wanting to expand their tastes into something sunny and quick-paced, don't hesitate at all to give Hatch's releases a go.
