It's always a pleasure to come across a particularly lovely voice, isn't it? East London singer-songwriter Harper has one, much to our delight, and her debut tracks, "Velvet" and "Island", do an excellent job demonstrating this. The first of the two tracks, "Velvet", is a piano-driven, harmonically interesting ballad reminiscent of Laurel's "To The Hills" (minus the operatic orchestration), while "Island" attempts a more dramatic approach—but both are exceptional. Production-wise, the efforts aren't breaking any new ground (refer to the boilerplate dubstep in the chorus of "Island"), but Harper's remarkable voice is all that's required to carry the tracks. Promising they remain, in any event, and they've us looking forward to whatever Harper's next to offer us.
