Handbook

Day to Day (Thank You)

Handbook just released his new EP entitled Titanomachy, a term from Greek mythology referring to an epic ten year long battle between the gods over who would rule Mount Olympus, long before humans were in existence. If Handbook is insinuating that their deathly cries as they fought to the death sounded anything like this EP, then they truly are gods as this EP is quite the uplifting production. In general, it's more of the same from Handbook (which is a good thing). Songs featuring chopped up samples of old pop/lounge samples held together with a hip-hop beat still dominate the EP, but there are some new surprises thrown in. My favourite of the surprises being the full-on jazz flute solo (I can't help picturing Ron Burgundy playing it, which is fitting as he may as well have been a greek god) dancing overtop of Handbook's beats in "Feet Feet", and the almost Pretty Lights-esque hard-hitting piano beat in "Those Days". Below are some of my favourites from the EP. You can download the whole thing (name your price) from his Bandcamp. [do action="play-this-page"/]
