Halleluwah

Blue Velvet

Listing one's homeland as a contributing factor to the sound of a band's music can sometimes become repetitive, but when it comes to music from Iceland, there just seems to be something always unique about it. We've spoken on this many times before, and still, we're amazed by all the new talent that emerges from the country. Halleluwah, a new duo comprised of Rakel Mjöll and Sölvi Blöndal, is our latest reason to get excited about the place, and we've some tracks of theirs to evidence our enthusiasm. The mentioned individuals have been releasing music together for over two years now, but with the release of "DIOR", their newest track, comes news of their impending debut album, too (it'll be out March 5). It's somewhat hard to tell what their debut will sound like, because with the aforementioned track and "1000 Eyes" and "Blue Velvet", also, we're privy to unique aspects of their work. From hip-hop, to electronic, to psychedelic-fused production, there's no definitive sound to put on the pair, but that's not a bad thing, and surely, we expect exciting things to come about from the pair as a result.
