It's pretty incredible that there's as little buzz about Portland, Oregon, up-and-comer Grace Mitchell as there is. Sure, the singer's sixteen (yes, you read that correctly), but as we've seen before in music, age is but a number that in no way signifies talent or sonic maturity. The folks at Pigeons & Planes remind us in their Grace-illuminating article, too, that she'd a spot on the soundtrack of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and surely, that high of an accomplishment should come as no surprise given the strength of her her sound. It's polished and powerful, as P&P correctly states, and it's a kind of foretelling sonic hint within it that tells of future success for the artist—perhaps on a grand scale. With an extraordinarily modest amount of attention paid to Grace's two SoundCloud-released tracks, and only a handful of followers on her lone social media account (Twitter), there's sure to be droves of new fans eager to acclimate themselves with her sound as they come across it, and surely, we can't blame anyone for that. "Broken Over You" and "Your Design" are the two alluded-to tracks appearing on Grace's SoundCloud, and each carry within them an enveloping and undeniably mature tone. It's truly hard to grasp that Grace is only sixteen, for her remarkably refined sound just isn't commonplace for someone still in high school, but all the intrigue and awe turns straight to strict listening pleasure as she lets loose on the aforementioned, emotionally upfront tracks. Inspired by a slew of female singers, it's obvious that Grace has put in work behind her creations, but it'd be ignorant to say she's not beginning to fulfill her own lane in the pop landscape. She's an incredible amount of time to work out all the angles of her inevitable ascent, surely, so we ought not to get ahead of ourselves with comparisons, but we think she's proven with "Broken" and "Design" that she's on a bright path indeed.
