On Cashmere, his debut LP, South African singer and producer Gourmet serves up refreshing pop tunes with ultra-catchy production and doleful vocals to boot. As evidenced by his intentionally garish cover art, the work serves as a colorful, quirky introduction to his fresh brand of indie-pop, and standout tracks like the head-nodding "Rewind" contrast beautifully with the more melancholic "Soft Things Taste Nice". In all, Cashmere shows that Gourmet's got a good ear for what will stick with a listener, and the songs existing on the project as a result are clearly the result of many hours of careful consideration of all that.
