Another day, another London-based duo. We’re willing to bet that you’ve never heard of GOSPEL before, but that’s not a problem, because they just popped up for the first time only a month ago. However, because they’re so new, we really don’t have much information about the act, so we’re going to stick to talking about the music, as per usual. What we have here with “Disasters Running Wild” is a dimly lit soundscape that’s ideal if you want to drift away for a few minutes. Don’t let the fact lead to you to negative conclusions, though, because you’ll quickly discover that GOSPEL uses the attribute remarkably. Soporific guitar strings, deep piano chords, and soothing electronic percussion form the core of the track, and Beth Anderton-Allen’s soft vocals mesh seamlessly with the instrumentation. A little over halfway through the effort, an electrifying burst of synths gives it all an uplifting twist, and from there, the song rides out to a spine-chilling conclusion.
