Glory Club is a collaboration between producers Anthony Collins and Jordan Lieb (Black Light Smoke). The duo, alongside the vocals of Léah Lazonick, released their debut self-titled EP back in March on the New York dance label, Scissor and Thread, and, from the looks of it, has flown quietly under the radar. That'll change once people get their ears on it, though, because it's absolutely going to blow up. These are the kinds of finds that all of us at Hillydilly live for, and it's nice to know that there is still great undiscovered music like this out there just waiting to be found. The project has been out for a minute now, but because it never really got the widespread recognition it deserved, it's officially acquired "hidden gem" status since its release. That's not to say it still doesn't have a good chance of disseminating far and wide in the future (in fact, music this cool always has the potential to blow up), but it's practically a crime that Glory Club isn't already trading punches with the big names in indie-pop right now. What's most impressive, though, is that this three-track EP (plus one remix) of theirs is one of the most well-balanced and cohesive release we've heard in a while. Yes, the music itself is obviously good, but it's the band's ability to build each song off of the next one that's truly inspiring. Listen to it all the way through, and you'll notice that they've a clear vision for who they want to be as a band. Track one is called "1000 Words", but it's the beat and guitar work that steals the spotlight. It's got a very dancy vibe to it, but Glory Club has incorporated a lot of relaxed instrumentation into the mix, and we're able to have the best of both worlds because of it. When you listen, the persistent pacing makes it exceedingly easy to enjoy, but it'll also do double-duty as a chill-out track. "Trigger Me" is next up, and it's a little bit harder, but there's still enough of that effortless cool to make it as versatile as "1000 Words", keeping the EP moving at the perfect pace. The track was also remixed by Black Light, and the deep-house rework compliments the quirky style of indie-dance the Glory Club has built with its original work. Last up on the list is "Under The Mask". This one brings the EP full circle, and is about as smooth as they come. The beat pulls a little more inspiration from the house music than the others do, but the stripped-down style fits like a glove, and it leaves you wanting more (or, at the very least, with a strong urge to hit replay). Glory Hole is still looking for their first breakout hit, but as far as we're concerned, it's already here. It's just a matter of time before people take notice, and we think once ears get around to the their self-titled work, that'll happen quickly enough. Purchase Glory Club on iTunes.
