Gillepsy — iThink

Gillepsy

iThink

We don't receive much music from Russia, and on the rare occasions that we have, we've been treated to some pretty chilled electronic courtesy of BuddhaChieff and others. It might be the tundra tapping into their icey sounds (and driving other, potential artists to take solace in endeavors outside the realm of sound-construction), but whatever the influences are over there, we're just happy they've resulted in Gillepsy's "iThink". The track itself takes from a wide range of identifiable genres, from garage, to breakbeat, to chillwave, to downtempo, and yet, the amalgamated electronic springing forth sounds a genre all its own. It's undeniably futuristic, with frosty synths and intricate drums, and it really sets a nice experimental tone throughout. We're seriously impressed with the electronic breakdown in the middle of the track, too, which is really unlike anything we've heard in some time. Gillepsy has really brough himself to our attention with this track of his here, and it's safe to say that we'll be focusing our attention a little more squarely on him in the future.
