We have been following the progress of London band Gengahr for nearly a year now. Formally known as RES, the band released “She’s A Witch” last year which was a lo-fi psych jam that echoed influences of bands such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Woods. They have since changed their name to Gengahr, however, and have been steadily releasing tracks this year. The first release under the new moniker was a demo of “Fill My Gums With Blood” that mined the same fertile psych soil as UMO, and their blistering second release, “Powder”, allowed the usually reserved guitarist John Victor free reign as he shredded the fretboard and consumed our senses with a glorious fuzz. Continuing to build on their impressive catalog, Gengahr has just released their latest single, “Bathed In Light”, and, returning to their alternative-indie aesthetic of previous releases, the track's a charming vehicle filled with psych-pop sensibilities and a healthy dose of lyrical whimsy that MGMT would be jealous of.
