There is no artist, producer, composer (whatever) in the world making the kind of enthralling, conspicuously exotic electronic that Galimatias is. The Dane is in his own lane, has been, and continues operating on a different wavelength than the rest of us, cooking up one poignant production after another with no regard for a sonic status quo, if one indeed exists. It's almost as if his conceptions for tracks morph necessarily into their actual, ultimate sound without any iota of effort on his behalf, and if that doesn't seem at all possible, you haven't been listening to the productions the man's been putting out. All it seems Galimatias has to do is will his ideas into sonic well-standing, and, voila, they emerge, as engaging and breathtaking as anything you've never known you needed to hear. That's really the man's mojo, incredibly enough, and with every piece he points his musical wand at, sonic wonder ensues. His latest, "Night Owl", is no exception, and it's us as awestruck as any of his past, indefinable productions. We see within Galimatias' SoundCloud description for his new track here that frequent artistic accomplice Alina Baraz has her presence again alongside his own, and her chopped vocals indeed integrate themselves seamlessly into what production washes over them. Layers upon layers of (sometimes) foreboding, (occasionally) spurting, and ultimately forceful synths line the track, and initially reserved, later-unwinding drums add marvelously in the way they lend a kind of futuristic groove to the effort. Galimatias makes sure we're completely captivated from start to finish, that's for sure—and we are. There's enough of a reputation the man's built up to have our interest sustained throughout all he chooses to let out, and "Night Owl", while not his most dynamic offering to date (what's that even saying, though?), has us entirely absorbed. As a result, you're definitely not going to want to sleep on the track, so get quickly to it below, and check Galimatias' back catalog for more electronic fantasia, that is, if you've the mind to wrap around it.
