Thomas Jack has been collecting devoted fans at a relatively steady pace since his release of Benjamin Francis Leftwich's "Atlas Hands", but this latest remix of Gabriel Rios' "Gold" takes his craft to a new level, and if your ears have ever perked up at the sound of his laid-back melodies, then this one is almost certain to get you hooked. The song kicks things off with the same building blocks of sound that he uses for a lot of his other work, but the real progress is made when he starts to blend those familiar sounds in with the original composition of "Gold". It's the subtle guitars and light vocals that Gabriel brings to the table that really sets this one apart, and we have to hand it to Thomas Jack for having the foresight to know that these two, very different, sounds would work so well together. Not since the Dinnerdate remix of "Crosses" have we come across such a solid blend of old and new influences, and the delicate treatment of the original material that this rising Sydney-based producer just proved he is capable of means we'll be looking out for more great material like this in the future.
