Freeze-Tag's newest EP, Eskimo, is definitely one of those projects that will get your ears to perk up no matter what kind of music you consider yourself a fan of. The EP has been out for a couple of months now, and has built up some decent traction, but it definitely didn't get the recognition it deserved, so if this is your first encounter with the music (as it most likely is), then you're in for a real treat. The Ohio-born producer kicks off the introduction with his Little Dragon cover, "Twice", and despite its ultra-slow build, the hauntingly hollow set of vocals (which fill up the track) set the tone perfectly for the rest of the track list. It's not as in-your-face as some other experimental producers out there right now, but it'll have no problem grabbing you attention. Move on from there, and the music continues to develop in a direction that a lot of artists just aren't exploring right now. It's a nice change of pace. Eskimo is definitely one you're not gonna want to cut up into chunks. Let it run all the way through, and make sure you listen to "Hours (Ours)" all the way through, especially. It's where Eskimo kicks up the energy a bit, and really hits its stride.
