When It Comes To Us ft. R I T U A L

Frances comes to us as a young bud of beautifully simplistic music. What we love about the emerging artist from Newberry, England, is how untarnished her sound is. It’s easy for music like this to be a little to perfume-like, but Frances, for being so young, is just honest about how she expresses herself. Sometimes the composition and the sound of the track can take away from beautiful lyrics and the poetry gets lost, but here, we have a hushed melody with enough of a backing beat that we feel it in our bones. Pair that with R I T U A L's smooth R&B sound, and you have something that feels like all of the rough edges have been worn down over and over again with each passing note. After her release of debut track "Glow", Frances has already established her potential. It usually takes emerging artists some time to really nail a track that ebbs and flows with emotion, but she has shown that she is well beyond her years as an artist. She doesn’t try too hard, which can be the downfall with most new ones, and what emerges from her is an authentic take on a young adult who is just grasping hold of what it means to fall in and out of love. We're excited to hear what is to come on her debut EP—a work dropping July 10 through Communion Records—and for now, we're satisfied to bask in her great new track here. [via The FADER]
