Forthsays' new release, "Gravity", is a piece of garage R&B that sits just left of what you might consider normal for the genre, but the finished product is a perfect example of what goes right when musicians are willing to throw out chunks of the rule book in favor of exploring new ways to get their sonic point across. The vocals here are so solid, they could work with any traditional R&B note progression and bassline, but the Berlin-based duo has decided to take the road less traveled and explore sounds that are more characteristic of something from a good experimental-electronic track. This new flavor is definitely a win in our book, but just mixing different sounds is only half the battle; you've got to make it accessible as well. With ambitious creative directions like the one in "Gravity", its arguably a lot harder to make things flow in a familiar way, but trust that Forthsays has thought this one through, and that the song is a great addition to their already quality track lineup.
