The Wilhelm Scream (James Blake Cover)

Recently, powerhouse James Blake treated us to some new music by way of "Modern Soul", and, though his upcoming LP, Radio Silence, hasn't been set for release just yet, a mysterious producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, flybear, has offered up a stunning take of his track, "The Wilhelm Scream". Leading in with a guitar, handclaps, and his own voice built on captivating harmonies, flybear emulates Blake without sounding like a copycat at all. On his take, he makes sure not just to cover bases with his the voice, but he also brings in a Mura Masa-like percussion section and vocal sample loop as well. It all brings the track to soaring new heights, and, really, it's an incredibly fresh spin on the classic six-year-old track. According to flybear, it's the first time he's ever put his own vocals in a song, and, listening here, we hope he continues to utilized them again.
