Lane 8 has already worked on some major tracks in the last year or so. His remixes of songs from artists like Josh Record, Daughter, Le Youth, and Fenech-Soler have contributed to an already impressive catalog, but this latest remix of Florrie's "Free Falling" is a welcome addition to the lineup by all accounts. The original track was a superbly constructed specimen of indie-pop, and Florrie's knack for finding the road less traveled in a genre that's becoming increasingly crowded with new talent is impressive, boding well for her career. Now, take that great foundation, and let Lane 8 add in his signature brand of electronic soul, and what you have as a result is the perfect blend of fuzzy vocals, smoothly flowing house rhythms, and a groove that could get even the staunchest wall hugger to start moving on the dance floor. Sometimes, remixes will fall flat and fail to deliver on the star power that the track title promises; even the best of songs won't work if there's no chemistry happening with the music. However, this Florrie/Lane 8 teaming up is right where it should be, and the music that Lane 8 was able to coax out of the parent track should definitely be seeing some heavy rotation on dance playlists everywhere.
