Thomas Casault and Louis-Étienne Santais (Fjord) have resurfaced five months after releasing the blissfully melancholic, "Blue", their debut track, to now bring us even moodier sentiments with their second, 'Irrational'. Little time is wasted on the track as the French Canadians jump right out with their increasingly iconic silk-laced vocals (they possess a surprisingly soprano and highly distinctive tone that sets them apart from other ambient dream-pop outfits), and the production this time around seems more obviously electronic, sprinkled with high-hats and light synths. An edgier aesthetic comes about on the effort, but it's one that remains evenly dispersed throughout and doesn't sacrifice smoothness at all.
