The slow, somber guitar riff which opens quietly Ficci's (one half of duo BATTS) piece, "Lost", sounds familiar and certainly not revolutionary. As soon as we hear mangled, distorted vocals, however, we've entered a soundscape that is uniquely his. The culmination of all the intricate details that make up the wide pool of sounds sit together perfectly, and, while the tempos on the track do pick lightly up, "Lost" remains mostly even-keeled while keeping you invested in its emotion that bubbles heavily just under the surface. Ficci has been admittedly more focused on his project, BATTS (Australian Tanya Batt rounds out the pair), but his new track here promises more work from him. Get into it below, and be on the look out for more pieces ahead.
