"The Lake" is Fences' follow-up single to the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis-assisted "Arrows" that was released a few weeks ago, it's our second peek into his debut, and it's further solidification of his move into a more pop-oriented sound with radio-ready vibes. Not all is to be perceived as a negative thing here, though, because nothing about the songwriting has been watered down in any sense; rather, the singer-songwriter is simply expanding beyond what we've heard in the past, and we suspect his success will increase enlarge all the more because of it.
