Fear Fun is the debut album from former Fleet Foxes drummer Joshua Tillman under the name of his solo persona, Father John Misty. Musically, Fear Fun doesn't stray far from the Fleet Foxes path, but unfortunately the album just never seems to reach the same level. The album's highlight, however, "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings," is a truly great song that immediately separates itself from the pack. If Tillman would have written 12 tracks with the same quality as this gem, Fear Fun would have been a hands down favourite for album of the year. The rest of the music is just too middle of the road to be anything other than an okay album with one outstanding track. Fear Fun drops May 1st.
