Like a raccoon taking to an open garbage dumpster in the back alley, we take to the back alleys of the internets when it comes to under-appreciated, hidden gems like Fantastic Fantastic's "Houses". Although released back in August, "Houses" has only racked up 800+ plays on SoundCloud, which is pretty disappointing considering the quality of the track. While we have no legitimate reason why that's the case, what we can tell you is that "Houses" was definitely not left for dead in a dumpster in the back alley of the internet. Rather, "Houses" has just been patiently waiting for its time to shine, and that time seems to be now. It's shine will come from you of course, when you feel the energy that emanates off of the uniqueness of the track. In a musical climate with all efforts frequently sounding the same, Fantastic Fantastic sticks out in a big way. Bordering along that no-genre line, members Micke & Kris coast along with their stream-of-consciousness vocal harmonies that graciously tinker with their 90's-influenced, pop production. It comes across as pop-sensible, and yet it kicks off enough intrigue in you that it becomes much more than just a good song. And with a debut EP on the way, "Houses" serves up as the perfect tease until we get to hear more from this very promising duo (which is hopefully sooner than later). Stream below.
