Young up-and-coming producer Drew Lustman AKA FaltyDL, who has previously opened for Thom Yorke, just released his downtempo experimental electronic EP, Hardcourage, today under Ninjatune (downloadable here). The whole album combines his raw primal musical instinct with an incredible technical musical ability and understanding for an overall great listen if you're looking for something that's easy listening but slightly challenging in places. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends being agreed upon as one of the top albums of 2013 in its genre. For me the standout track is without a doubt 'Straight and Arrow' and the bonus accompanying Gold Panda Remix. It features well-placed chopped up chopped up and modulated vocal samples (so hot right now) overtop of a flittering dancing synth line. The haunting falsetto and whispering vocals of Ed Macfarlane in She Sleeps are also definitely worth a listen and to give you a better idea of what the album as a whole might sound like, I've included a more typical track in For Karme.
