When Aziz Ansari named his Netflix series, Master of None, he, of course, was referencing the Beach House track of the same name, but he also was making a larger statement on the recent rise of the "professional amateur". The idea is that, with the advent of the internet and the mass transfer of information, there are more professionals than ever who lack technical skill and are, therefore, able to get by on mediocrity. The idea fails to recognize certain people like Facer, though, who use the internet as a tool to master any and everything on which he or she sets their sights. Facer, who you may know as "glassface", is a graphic designer, music video director, and musician. His contributions include every piece of Tunji Ige cover art, co-production on Tobi Lou's best singles, and Lil Yachty's year-best video,"1Night". Today marks a special day for him, however, as he's dropped his debut solo record, "Press", as part of Noah Breakfast's digital label, Rare MP3s. The track is a hazy, subdued electronic number that features co-production help from a host of next-gen producers, including Heaven in Stereo, Dutchboy, and Noah Breakfast, and, like on most of their work, on "Press", Facer and friends offer a glimpse into the future.
