Groomed from the ripe age of five, LA-based singer-songwriter Evan Mellows has been "coming up with vocal melodies and lyrics for fun" since his childhood; and with his influences from some of R&B's all-time greats (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross), we now see the up-and-comer channeling his musical-dipped upbringing into his own new tunes. Although you would assume his sound would pay homage to classic R&B, tracks like "Seven" (his latest) suggests otherwise. Over the teeming-with-life, disorganized, and busy production from his production counterpart (and friend from junior high) David Burris, there's no homage to the sound of old, but a newfangled direction that sets its own path of immense intrigue. Look for a new project with Evan and David coming soon, but for now, immerse yourself in "Seven" below.
