It seems Oddisee made the most of his recent trip to New Zealand, because not only did he record some new material with Ladi6 on that superb remix of "Diamonds", but he also recorded this new track, "Flight Light", with Wellington singer, Estère. As we all know, Oddisee keeps his artist integrity locked, so you know that when he lends out his talents, it's never for superficial gain. Mutual talent needs to be present, and when it comes to Estère, all it takes is a pair of ears to hear her gorgeous voice. In addition to her singing, Estère also produces, and as we find on "Flash Light", she enacts her aforementioned skills to create quite the unique beat here. It's a percussion-heavy, almost tribal offering that showcases a sound you would normally not associate with soul music. With the addition of Oddisee rapping here, "Flash Light" quickly becomes a no-brain listen.
