It's a beautiful thing when artists are ready to step out of the shadows of other stars and into the space of their own. Eryn Allen Kane, a Chicago-based soul artist whose collaborative work has seen her aside Chance The Rapper and others from the city, is doing just that now, and her "Have Mercy" single here is simply great. It's bare, sure, but what sparse snaps and beautifully beckoning voice she has expressed on it is all we need to appreciate the effort she's put forth. There's absolutely zero fluff here at all.
