Reminiscences of a soul-soaked sound long past is exactly what Detroit newcomers Empty Houses are giving us with their debut and self-titled five-track EP, and if you happen to yearn for some let's-make-the-world-a-better-place kind of music that warms the soul at the same time, the body of work is what you need right now. It should be noted that Empty Houses is actually a side project of pop-punk band Fireworks, but sonically, the new project couldn't be any more left of the original music Fireworks creates. In our estimation, their decision to branch off is a brilliant one, because within their new work, we honestly can't find one bad track.
