Is it possible to grow tired of sprightly electronic? There's been such an influx of it in the past year or so that it seems like the answer to that question would and should be obvious, but that's just not the case when the quality of the tracks manage to match the absurd quantities we've been coming across. Take Empia, for example; he's a 22-year-old producer from Sydney that describes his sound as some type of blend between Basenji and Cosmo's Midnight. At first glance, some rolling of the eyes might be in order, just because we've seen that kind of geographical and acoustical combination many times before, but a closer inspection of his craft reveals not only an accurate self-assessment, but an incredible sound of his own. "Morning Call", his latest work and a submission he had sent earlier to us, channels a similar sonic spirit to the aforementioned producers, albeit, with a synth pizzazz that belongs entirely to Empia. The track is as dynamic as any we've heard from the new year, and, being only the sixth effort on his SoundCloud account, we shudder to think of what more electrifying works he has up his sleeve.
