Ever since Emmit Fenn's debut crept onto SoundCloud two years ago, we knew he was an artist we'd support and follow closely—and we have. Now, today, the Berkeley native's six past releases and two new pieces finally converge into what's now the Prologue EP, and, after listening to it, we see it is detail-oriented, cohesive, and upholding of a certain delicacy and cinematic quality that isn't common in music today. Now, while we've come to know Emmit's work as being complex and darkly tinted, what has always been most obvious is his ability to create intense emotion quickly with every track. His songs are as effective as they are efficient, and, though tempos and styles vary from track to track, each thread together myriad shades of emotion to achieve a resounding first body of work.
