Elohim wowed pretty much everyone she contacted with her initial, perfectly poppy "She Talks Too Much" track. That was eight weeks ago, though, and, despite a recent remix of it, we've been waiting in stark anticipation for what follow-up effort she had in store. Well, at last, we've had our patience rewarded. "Xanax" is the name of the new work that the about-to-rise Los Angeles artist has supplied, and it's great. It's sluggish, downtempo, glossy, shadowy, glum, and perhaps what a younger, more drug-pop-oriented Lana Del Rey would sound like if she woke up in a dream and started to sing (yeah, that's some beautiful imagery). Elohim's decidedly lazy pace with her lines compliments the sonic environment entirely here, too, and her hook does its damn job well alongside what percussion blossoms around it. As a result of all this, you're not going to be able to resist falling under the track's spell, and, well, you can just blame the drugs for that.
