We've covered virtually every release from Los Angeles-based Elohim over the past year, and her latest, the weightless, pop-laden "Bridge and the Wall" from a couple months back, was perhaps her best yet. Her new track, "Pigments", however, spurs from the all-important concept of self-love that not all can harness in full form. Her monotone, repeated line, "I can't make you love you", is a downer, no doubt, but her following, lingering declaration to change restores our faith in what message she has and echoes the true meaning behind the track. Sonically speaking, "Pigments" boasts colorful, lush melodies and impressively strong percussion, and what sleek breakdowns it has, too, helps liven it up to a point we love. In short, Elohim's managed to captivate us once again, and we hope that more tracks of hers in the new year will continue to do just that.
Elohim
