Elliot Moss' newest track, "Slip", just might be the very definition of a hidden gem. When this popped up on our radar, it had only three plays, but the music instantly blew us away. Elliot's voice is light and cheery, but the song itself is brooding and dark, and the combination of the two opposites is both clever and chill-inducing in much the same way Gary Jules' "Mad World" is when played for the first time. To add to the complexity, Elliot makes heavy use of jazz-style composition, and the methodical pacing, dark synths, and saxophonic textures takes away any doubt that this was meant to be a slow-jam. The track is part of Elliot's debut album, Highspeeds, which has been out since October, so if Elliot's particular brand of darkly colored soul is up your alley, we recommend you go check out the rest of the project.
