Ekali is primed to become one of music's most seductive-sounding electronic artists, and from "Unfaith", his tantalizingly titled, first-ever original work, it's easy to hear why. The Canadian up-and-comer opens his work with the utmost delicateness, offering only a few sampled bits and emergent synths to set down the gripping attractiveness of the track, and as soon as the instrumentation bursts beautifully forth thirty seconds in, you'll be hooked hopelessly into his web sonic serenity. It's not unreasonable to compare the effort to the ones fellow electronic extraordinaire Dpat has been putting out (Dpat's one of our most beloved producers here at HD), but, it'd be unjustified to say that Ekali's not his own sound. An emphasis of strings, large synths, and comfortably pounding bass give him a foundation he can build off for future works, and, of course, his sampling of Ciara's oft-sampled "Body Party" ensures accessibility to fans of that camp, too. More than anything, though, Ekali has cemented his potential with this track, and, it having followed the equally enrapturing "Another Girl" that he worked on with aywy. a month ago, it's unarguable that his future is as luminous as his sound is lovely.
