When beatmakers as adroit as Durkin and SevnthWonder join forces, you’d expect quite the result in terms of quality, and there’s no doubt the two deliver handsomely on their first ever collaborative piece entitled "stutterstutter”. Stripping the vocals from Joe’s decade-old R&B effort, “Stutter”, the pair split the reworking of the instrumental superbly, skillfully throwing in an array of either sampled segments, or fluttering drum sequences—each giving the vocals a new, wholesome outfit. Employing dynamic samples is second nature to both producers, as vivacious cuts drive the hat-heavy onset, and as the beat builds, Joe’s vocals are sifted through a barrage of R&B goodness that includes Sevnth’s signature throwback synths and Durkin’s externally simplistic, yet rather intricate drumwork. The oscillation between verse and chorus is seamless, and with the aforementioned cuts continually fueling the piece's character, enjoyable audio nostalgia is inevitably induced.
