The pop-rock genre can be a fine one to walk when it comes to creating a sound that isn't too polished or cookie cutter-sounding. There's nothing exciting listening to music that sounds like it came off a conveyor belt, surely, but when it comes to the pop-rock of Dream State, we find a sound that never once elicits any eye rolls. The Brisbane-based band only started releasing music nine months ago, but it's their latest track, "You Never Know", that's likely their most promising effort to date. It has the hallmarks of everything you love about the genre—upbeat, feel-good elements, among others—and will even elicit comparisons to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix. Needless to say, if you're a fan of the genre, there's no reason you're not going to be digging the track, so get to it, and find more similarly sounding material on their SoundCloud page.
