We're running out of words to describe our infatuation with Unlikely Futures' sound. Since the trio's inception, they've proven incapable of putting together indifferent-sounding productions, and we've been drawn to works of theirs like moths to flames. There's something indescribably satisfying about everything they've released up to this point, and whether that's due to the senses they engage, the head-nodding they provoke, or some other kind of entertaining stimulation, we're just happy to have the guys as a bedrock of sonic consistency time and time and time again. With their latest work released today, we see the three take the rework route for only the second time (they've an exotic remix of DVBSS' "We Are Electric"), and you knew they were going to keep things Canadian with regard to the source material. Sure enough, Drake's "Too Much" provides the the foundation for the trio's effort here, and, despite the track's six-month aging, they've given it such a fresh touching up that'd it'd be ridiculous to ridicule their decision to life it back into artistic light. In true UF fashion, the remix opens with some lofty croons and sonic anticipation, and very shortly thereafter, we're thrust into a subliminal chamber of sound necessitating Drake's lyrical arrival. That arrival occurs right when it needs to, though, right when you want it to, and some bass and electronic instrumentation help welcome his well-situated presence. The aforementioned croons coat Drizzy's lines throughout, giving a kind of understated grace to the whole of the piece, and the feels just flow freely in because of this. You'll want to rap alongside Drake, shake your head at the beat UF has surrounded him with, and also sit idly soaking up the grandiose sound, all at the same damn time, so don't be afraid to loop the effort several times. It's one of the more alluring rap reworks we've heard from a production unit this year, so listen up.
