Any rap music fan knows it's been an eventful month for the genre, and, to cap it all off, Drake has given us his fifth studio album, Scorpion. To make the project a bit easier to navigate, Drake split it up into two halves (the first is rap-heavy, while the second is more R&B-oriented). Overall, the LP is not particularly groundbreaking, but it deserves credit for its versatility, as Drake explores sample-based hip-hop, trap-influenced rap, new-wave R&B, and funk-infused pop on it. He doesn't really stretch the boundaries of any, but we don't think he really needs to—he's already established his ethos of producing widely appealing sounds.
