With the current advent of technology and the sheer accessibility of tools available to use music for artistic expression, it's rare to hear a sound other than one that can be described as categorically "new". This is where Doctrine comes in, however, with a new release which is exactly that. Blending religiously tinged choral harmonies with electronically fueled indie-pop melodies, debut “Play” subverts expectation to create something that is truly unique. The group has been quoted as saying they really wanted to create something they'd never seen before, which had "the complexity and beauty of classical choral music but the rhythm, drive and clarity of an indie pop record". With the aforementioned mission statement, we can say Doctrine has definitely succeeded, and, based on the sound we're hearing here, we hope they've more tunes for us in store.
