Nine months ago, we posted a few tracks from a Norwegian band called Disaster In The Universe, and our interest was immediately sparked by their ability to incorporate both tropical, and psychedelic, vibes into a single track. After that, however, they somewhat disappeared from our radar, but we're refreshed to see their name again with the release of their album, Coconut Message. And, in typical Hillydilly fashion, we automatically went through and plucked out what efforts we believed to prevail as the best. "Yugen (Telling Me All)" portrays a feel similar to their previous release, "Beach House"; summer-pop vibes are created through the combination of cheery electric guitar, an upbeat pace, and hints of tropical percussion, altogether creating a track ideal for absorbing some sun on the first warm days of the spring (hopefully coming soon). The other standout track, "Jada Jada", is in the same realm as the first, but with a slightly different feel. After a short introduction from chirping birds and slick percussion, a slow tempo and mellow vibe persist throughout the remainder of the song (aside from the short spurt of psychedelic material that follows the first chorus). Altogether, Disaster In The Universe's new release is excellent preparation for the upcoming warm weather, and, as per usual, if you like what you're hearing, consider purchasing more of their music through iTunes.
