This one is a bit different, but don't let that scare you off, because if the music is good enough, it really shouldn't matter what it reminds you of, or that it might not remind you of anything you've heard before, right?. In any event, it's in this particular sonic nether region that Deaths has decided to set up shop, and the result is a triumph of offbeat production work and left-of-field songwriting. Berlin-based and surely up-and-coming, Deaths' sound introduces with a series of brooding synths, but it's the bass and percussion that really seals the deal. The drums employed are infused with a muted intensity that makes you feel as if some wild animal's growl was recorded over it, and the vocals that come in on the higher registers turn "Lonewolves" into the complete package. Now, we're not going to tell you "Lonewolves" is the most upbeat track out there, but even with that said, we'll have no problem vouching for its supremacy as a slow-burn experimental piece with plenty of cool to spare. Right from the start, the composition will have you bobbing your head with the groove they cut, and if you're not hooked by about halfway through, then something's amiss. We're not sure if Deaths has big goals in the future or not, but if not, that may need to be changed, because "Lonewolves" here is the kind of music that gets a lot of attention on the internet. It's well-made to the point that people are definitely going to take notice, and you're advised to grab this track if you're looking to add a bit of diversity to your HD playlists.
