Another single down, and another examination into the inadequacies of coming into a relationship from Day Wave. Whether this trend is a cathartic autobiographical exercise for Jackson Phillips (Day Wave) or just plain fiction is irrelevant at this point, because the themes he's exploring have a specific familiarity that resonate well with his audience. Following from previous singles “Nothing At All” and “Total Zombie”, Day Wave continues the spirited back-and-forth style of songwriting on latest single “Drag” as he analyses a veritable laundry list of his particular shortcomings. In lesser hands, this could come off as pitiful, however, once again with Day Wave, it is impossible to escape his irresistibly charming self-deprecating play. When accompanied with sun-kissed riffs and surf-pop vibes that he is increasingly becoming known for, too, they're nothing but attractive.
