There are few other producers putting out the kind of engaging electronic that Daktyl has been lately. The man never fails to strike a creative chord with his work, and it's quite remarkable that this is so when one considers the vastly different ambiance each piece of his typically entails. But though the energies may differ from one track to the next, they all retain their irresistibly intriguing aura, and as we see on the UK producer's latest effort, a remix of HD-favorite Dawn Golden's "Last Train", our words are again proven true. If you had heard (and loved) the original, you'll be happy to hear that Daktyl takes the supplement-rather-than-supplant route with his remix, which is to say, tactfully build around (rather than completely overhaul) the initial work. He does indeed add his own unique tone to the track, adding instrumental ticks, kicks, and claps, sturdy bass, and, intermittently, seizing synths, but he also preserves the indie-electronic bliss that Dawn Golden initially cast. It takes some type of producer to pull the feat off (balancing one's own sound with that of Dawn Golden's [and it not sounding subtractive in the sonic sense]), but the continually awe-inspiring Londoner passes with flying colors, as he always seems to do.
